So they did end up changing my internship. I got my second choice, which is still a really freaking amazing prospect, but i can't help but be disappointed and frustrated. I WISH THEY HAD TOLD ME SOONER SO I WOULDN'T HAVE GONE TO THE ST-JAMES ORIENTATION. Cause seeing how awesome it is just... shows me what i'm missing. :(
It's like being handed a coveted shiny new toy and then having it taken away. I've been feeling sadfaced and like a petulant child all day. :(

But i did go to the new place's orientation today and it looked promising. I'm mostly just really excited to work with this population again. And my partner looks like she's gonna be super awesome.
I'm still petulant though. :/

OK MOVING ON.

GOOD THINGS THAT HAPPENED TODAY:
-TEA PARTY IN ART ED CLASS
-MAKING TEA BOWLS WITH CLAY IN ART ED CLASS
-MAKING NEW FRIENDS IN ART ED CLASS
-I had a sci-fi nerd moment during mask-fitting today (dust filtering masks are mandatory for ceramics class)

Our filters are little disks of FLASHY PINK FOAM. It takes very little to amuse me.
The lady put a big pager bag over our heads and sprayed concentrated something or other into it and told us to breathe deeply to make sure our masks well properly sealed.
XD We looked soo awesome. XD

Btw, are you free this Saturday evening? There is weekly Merlin parties thrown on DW (but you don't need an account to participate!) and it's full of great enthusiastic people, talented fans and inspiring threads. I've been late to the past ones and will be again for this one, but it's always good fun. At the very least, try to stalk phoq there? She's a french-Canadian fellow artist and we can spazz bilingually+drawings. She wanted to try doing a community-wide p-chat session, and I was thinking we could try it with the 3 of us (easier for timezones~) first if you are interested (and hamano_ayumi if ST fandom hasn't eaten her alive! XD ).

Ya, no, that won't do. Thinking like that is why people like you and phoq and littlemute aren't posting and it makes everyone throw their hands in the air and shake their heads. See, I'm the main moderator of that community, and am saying : it's not spamming. Bundle them all under a single post if you don't want to make multiple posts? But please do it, for the love of fandom! When you have a more complete drawing, you can post that too then, and it'll all be nicely filed under your tag - if people don't want to see these, they simply won't click on the lj-cut, yet I guarantee you they DO. Pretty please?

The parties go on all night. I plan on joining this one around that time as well, as iI'll be at a bday party beforehand. So do join whenever you are home, even if it's on unday only - they generally go on actively enough to until Monday night. =)

Dear, what you think you lack in quality you can more than make up for in numbers? I think one of the reason that the fanart part of the fandom look a lot smaller than the writers part is because there isn't really a 'drabble' category for drawings, and so artists tend not to publicly post these, whereas authors are encouraged to post theirs. And for good cause - fans do enjoy reading them, just like I think you can gather by the hearts in everyone's eyes that they like doodles as well? The way I see it, every community accepts drabbles and they do 'fit' there, so drawmelot also does. I want author/artist equality, damnit! =\

(See it this way - those other artists I've mentioned, would you have liked to see their drawings if you didn't know their LJ? I certainly do. So I need you guys to post, for all the folks that only watch the BBC newsletter and don't see drawings and then make contests and communities and events that are writers-only because they don't think there's artists out there. We've given fandom an heart attack by being so many and so awesome at the BB; now I want it to acknowledge us. It really is a problem, but we can fix it by being present all the time.)

My epics CGs aren't there because I haven't finished answering to comments left on them (this includes my BigBang entries, the reel_merlin, and other Project art), though I did post 'doodles' since then. Second, as a mod, I need to make that post about Betas - and I don't feel like I can do it if I just made a post with one of my drawing. So I'M ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO POST. And last, yes, I'm being an hypocrite, but don't think it affects the fact that people will want to see your doodles and that they might inspire other fans. If you really don't want to for personal reasons, then that's fine and I'll shut up, but if you are just shy or not thinking they are worthy(!?), then I'm going to keep on poking you in the name of all the others I cannot, alright?

Hum, i think a lot of it also has to do with the fandom trend itself and the raw "material" it is provided with. Merlin fandom mostly affords fic potential because it is a TV show, and is essential plot-based. Hetalia, on the other hand, is principally fanart based since it is a webcomic and anime. But i still believe that in both types of fandom, art and fic are equally valued, even if not equally represented. There is always a larger tendency towards one or the other. Not because of bias necessarily, but just because trends tend to work that way.

Your excuses are lame, but i will forgive you because you are awesome. Also, plz hurry and make that beta post so that you can post your CGs!!! XO
